I am trying to restore my 1987 Montauk as best I can and my poor original bow light looks terrible. I can't afford a new original and I would like to reuse the one I have, so I was thinking of getting my current light rechromed. Has anyone tried this? How do they come out? Any recommended plating companies? I don't mind sending it away, I just want it to look good.
I have looked at the new stainless models and some things on e-bay, but I am hoping the cost to get it replated will be close to the price of these "new" versions.
I appreciate your thoughts!

I have my bowlight at Frankford plating right now. They are charging $125 to replate the base and stanchions. Other members have used them and everything I have read/heard about them is favorable.

Before replating you should try and have the light polished out. My was pretty tarnished after 32 years however, after 5 minutes on the bench top polisher it shined like new again.
