I have seen on this sit that some whalers have the blue inside and some do not. Does that make the model different if there is no blue. My is a 1973 and does not have blue. Then i have seen some around the same year and have the blue inside. I guess what I am asking is do the older sports have the blue and sourpuss does not have blue.

The interior color really has nothing to do with the model.
The model is determined by the interior configuration. The Sourpuss has a wrap around rail on the pilot bench seat and had blue cushions along with center steering.

Here is a photo of one Sourpuss:

Look through the rest of the model specification section to see what model you have.

So they are the same boat just with different interior.

Yes... Same hulls.

In the earlier days, you could buy just a bare hull, NO interior...
Or, you could choose your style or model of interior.
Sport, Super Sport, etc...
or Nauset, Eastport, Sakonnet, etc....

Just wanted to mention that the cushions Joe mentioned were not only blue but were blue denim. This is an important distinction that was passed along to me years ago by Tom Clark.

Now I am confused...

Just restored a 1969 13 footer what I think is a sport with the side console however the feature I really like is the wrap around rail and backrest like described for the sourpuss. No bow rails...much better for me for climbing in after diving.

Soooo...does that make mine a Sour-Sport...Super Puss...Puss Sport or just a great little retro 13!?

Tried to post a pic...file might be too big and no clue how to downsize

Blake,

If it has a side console, it is a Sport model. If it is a 1969 model and has the wrap around rail and seat back then that rail and seat back was retrofitted later as is was not an option in 1969.

see the pic in my personal page.
we added the wrap around rail and seat back when we got the boat in 1984.
not sure, but i think the boat was a mid 70s model.
