Never heard of a Gasparilla......

It sounds like some sort of intestinal problem?

For those of us who don't know, What is it?

It is Tampa's Mardi Gras (somewhat) celebrating the invasion of Tampa by that dastardly pirate Jose Gaspar; parade, pirate boat (w/crew..sorry, it's not a Whaler) and all.

AAAARG!

I was down in Tampa last year for a marine conference during Gasparilla... the place was going crazy! Too bad, I was just at the same conference but it was in Atlanta this year.

If given the chance, I'd go in a heartbeat! Get ready for a good time!

Thanks Bob,

Being from California I apparently don't know the Florida history that well.

When is it for those that don't know?
Dates?

There are some sites to it (not good); Wikipedia is probably the best for a quick education

To help with the Mardi Gras atmosphere the Cajun band "Lost Bayou Ramblers" will be playing at Skippers Smokehouse in Tampa on Sunday night the 27th. My son is in the band and I'm really proud to say they are nominated for a Grammy this year. We're keeping our fingers crossed that the writers settle their strike so the show can go on.
Joe, that CD will soon be on the way.
