Hi all- My '87 Montauk is in storage and I need a width measurement at the stern near the sump cover. I'm going to build a teak bench seat that will sit on the lip and need that distance for lumber calculations. Does anyone know the approx. measurment lip to lip? Thanks!

I usually keep my boat here at the office. I walked out back with a tape measure and camera to get this for you but forgot I towed my boat to the house LAST night to work on filling some holes in the center console. It is in the garage at the house -- I will measure it tonight and if there is no post tomorrow I will put it out there for you.

I'll be interested too. I was down at Wolfs Marine in Benton Harbor, MI last Saturday. They tend to have a lot of miscellaneous parts and pieces laying around and I was looking for some scrap teak. In the corner they had beat-up swim platform that must have spent the last 10 years outside in the bone yard, 70x18x1 inches. Brought it home and ran it through a planner to smooth the surface. The teak is spectacular. I’ll cut it down for a rear bench seat on my Montauk. Cost me $100…

Measured 60 1/2 inches between the sides and resting on the lower lip. I took the measurement between the sides about 3-4 inches in front of the the splash well. This would put your seat in the area right above the rear hull hatch. Let me know if this helps - if you need another measurement I can provide in a days time.
Good luck -- post picks when you finish!
