i have a 115 merc. it is a 1992 and the control is a top mount morse. it has a red knob on the top of the lever handle. the handle slips back while running. i push it forward to the speed i want and when my hand comes off the knob she slips back.
is this the engine or the morse control? how do i fix it or check it for a solution?
thanks

It sounds like a morse problem.
Somewhere, like the side mounted, there must be a friction screw to
adjust the effort needed on the throttle lever.
The more tighten the screw the more tihgt the lever;)
I've done a little research btw and i didn't find something for the top mount.
It's 100% sure that there must be a lever resistance adjustment.
Take some time and inspect closely your control.

You need to increase the friction / detent.
Assume you have the MT-3 control that was installed on a lot of whalers. Click Here for
Downloading of the operation manual.
