On a recent fishing trip aboard my 2014 Montauk 190 the 150 Merc began to sputter. The fuel tank is 3/4 full. It worsened as the trip went on and I turned back. Eventually the engine stalled and wouldn't restart. I checked the fuel filter and she was bone dry?? I removed the fuel demand valve and there was fuel at the base of the valve housing/pickup tube. The valve is mounted atop the inboard tank.
I sucked some fuel through the hose where it attaches to the fuel filter. Don't laugh but, it I took a little more effort than I expected. The outboard ran but sputtered and stalled. I also depressed the slot on the fuel demand valve, but no fuel flowing to the filter. I am expecting the fuel pump to draw the fuel into the filter when you turn on the key.
I don't know if its a venting problem, clogged pick up tube or the fuel demand valve. I'm going to try with the valve first as its the easiest to change. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

You should have a primer bulb in the fuel line.
Remove the fuel demand valve, reconnect and reprime the fuel line. You should see fuel in the clear filter on the engine.
