I am thinking of replacing the bow hatch on my 1981 17 Striper with a fiberglass cover since the sun "kills" the wood. I am tired of sanding and varnishing it often. Does anyone make one of these? The boat stays on a boat lift all season and hard to cover the bow.

Are you re-coating the varnish each spring or fall? Should give it a light sand and then 2 coats (sanding in between)
If this is too much switch to oil instead of varnish. Still need to apply a finish each year.
