I have read old posts until my eyes have bled about whether or not to use stainless lag bolts for the lower transom engine mount or install a jack plate with 4 thru bolts with back side washers and nuts and then mount the engine. Has anyone done this recently with a success story? Trying to figure out the best way to go for longevity for the transom.

thanks,

andrew

See our article here:

I would drill the "Green" holes.

Your boat profile says you own a 1971 Sakonnet but this post says you have a Nauset.
Which one is it?
Or do you own both?

She's a hybrid! I have the reversible RPS and the rear bench seat and the casting platform that is removeable for the bow.

Green holes is a good option.

Thanks for the suggestion.

OK.
Sounds like a Sakonnet then.

The engine should be mounted "two holes up" with the top bolt in the 3rd hole in the engine bracket when counting down from the top.

Owners who tested props on their 16/17 models with a new DF90 recommend one of these props*:

14x18 Suzuki SS
13.25x19 Stiletto Advantage I/Turbo 1
13x20 Laser II (top speed)
14x19 Powertech LNR
13.25x17 PowerTech SCD (tubing)

*Size only applies to the specific make/model of prop and is not transferrable.
