My boat is a 2001 dauntless 18'. It has been repowered with a 2018 mercury 150hp four stroke.
The boat has its original teleflex cable steering. I may be getting old but steering takes a good bit of effort. I’ve been reading specs on different brands of hydraulic steering.
I love the concept of hydraulic steering. I have a few questions.
1. Is there a down side to hydraulic?
2. Is there a learning curve after install?
3. What do they mean 5,4? Will I be spinning the wheel round and round to make turns?
4. Is there a trusted manufacturer? Or pioneering manufacturer?
5. I like the pump that comes from hydro drive in England. However I’d rather chose a brand that has some track record or the most dealer support in my region (Great Lakes).
