Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: 18 Outrage bilge cover photos???

Anyone willing to post a picture of the cover over the access hole where the engine cables enter into the boat. There is no cover on the one I recently purchased and looking for ideas. Tried looking through pictures on this site and online, but could not find any that clearly shows this area of the boat. The boat is a 1987 18' Outrage.

Typically the cover is 1/2 inch teak plywood with a 1" diameter finger hole.

Double check the opening measurements against the drawing measurements before fabrication.

That is a good starting point. Thanks for the info. Going to make one out of starboard. Would still like to see some pics of what others have or created

The factory original sump cover for the Outrage 18 is made of 3/8" teak marine plywood, not 1/2". For general information, the sump covers on all of the 70' and 80's boats, Montauks and Outrages, were made from the 3/8" material. !/2" material is too thick and sits above the boat floor level.

How is the cover attached. Is it held by screws into the lip, any type of hing?

The cover simply drops in. There is, however, a Marinium "arrowhead shaped" stop screwed into the lip that holds it in place. When trailing at highway speeds, remove cover. I had one blow out of the boat
