Thinking about getting a Bimini top from Specialty Marine. Have any owners of a 15ā€™ classic hull with side rails purchased one? Iā€™m leaning towards rail mounting versus gunnel mounting to avoid putting extra holes in the boat. Curious if this configuration is able to lay flat when not in use so that a mooring cover can still be used. Thanks!

Hi Tom,

I have 15 SS classic, full rail ending near the rear storage compartment. My Bimini is original to the boat and lays flat in front of the motor. The original Whaler Bimini supplier was Mills & Co. Link:

Here you will find the Bimini for the 15 along with mounting instructions, etc.

I lived in Richmond for a number of years before moving full time to Mathews on the East River running my 15 on Mobjack Bay and Chesapeake. I recently relocated to Fort Myers Beach with 15 in tow. Miss those blue crabs.

No comment on the 15' but I did buy the SS bimini from Mills for my 17' Montauk. This a very nice, high quality top and I have no regrets on the price.
