I just recently bought a 1986 22 Outrage and it has had some fiberglass repair done, but not finished on the transom. All I need to do is sand down the new glass and seal them. So my question is what do I need to seal the fiberglass with? As in what kind of primer and paint. I am also hoping to match the original gel coat as close as possible. There is new glass both above and underwater. Planning on painting the bottom with antifouling paint in the near future if that affects any advice. Thank you for the help

If you have raw glass mat or any rough mat that is covered by resin you will most likely need to cover the area with gel coat. There are several vendors mentioned on this site that have matching gel coats. If your boat is not extremely faded you might be able to apply the gel coat and eliminate any painting. Gel coat can be sprayed, brushed or rolled. Final finishing by sanding and compounding can exceed a painted finish for durability and esthetics.
