Hey - looking for some more advice please

My Outrage project is in the water thanks to advice and several friends. As I continue to repair small things there are a couple of case where small pieces of sheet metal look like they were potentially used as a grounding in the boat?? one of them is attached to the underside of the transom, and may have been connected to a small brass piece on the back of the boat... near where i've mounted a transducer (before the hull was repainted 2 years ago). Picture below shows the metal but the brass plate is hidden behind it.

Anyone familiar with this and how important it may be to get it right?

The original bonding system for the fuel fill and the fuel tank was a wire that led to a bronze disc on the outside of the transom.

In your photo, the bonding disc holes have been filled in.

The metal strip should be removed. Don't care what its for, not good to be there.

If you pull the inspection cover on the fuel tank cover you will see the green bonding wire come off the tank.

Behind the Kydex cover, amidships on the port side is a green bonding wire attached to the underside of the fill fitting.

Both these green bonding wires should run to the negative post of the battery. This is the method now in use by the factory.

Might be hard to find these days if any are left in stock.

Here is one I reinstalled on several years ago on another larger size Outrage.

I actually have one un-used.

I planned to replace mine but changed my mind and grounded everything to the battery.

Joe and Phil - thanks for the advice. i shoulda reached out sooner!

the brass plate is there on the transom area. But it sounds like running the 2 wires back to the negative battery post may be a better long-term solution (the fuel tank and midship behind the cover).

I was puzzled wire the metal under my boat was connected from the brass grounding plate to a metal fixture just under the boat... almost like a zinc (but not). Should I just ignore that piece? take away the metal and leave the fitting?

Joe - thanks also for the overview on patching your holes. I have many holes on the transom, deck and console that i've just epoxied this summer (but will keep me busy patching and using patch paste this winter!
