Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Question for 2000 17 Montauk - Console Lights

I am new to this 2000 17 Montauk and I am doing some wiring trouble shooting. The two side lights at the base of the console (on the sides) are on at all times and I am certain that they are at least one cause for my batteries to drain. Just wanting to know that they should not be on all the time. I have to get in there and trace the wiring, I assume, to figure out what is going on. Not an easy proposition. My nav light switch also doesn't seem to turn any lights on or off, although when in the on position, it lights up. The nav lights are not working at all, switch on or off. Bulbs in these lights are led replacements.
Any tips or resources to sort this out would be appreciated.

Those are not factory console lights so you are going to have to trouble shoot or turn off the battery if you have a battery switch.
Check our article out on Navigation Lights.

Follow the wiring inside the console.

Thanks to both for the help. Yes I have to trace the wires which is a challenge since the console has wires for vhf radio and an am/fm radio with speakers. That’s in addition to wiring to switches, bilge etc. It not very neat and easy to follow and I don’t bend well any more. I took the bulbs out of the lights as an interim solution until I can down and in there. I might have to remove the seat and frame to give myself some leg room. That’s a job for the winter.

I found unscrewing the console from the floor and rotating it 45 degrees counter clockwise helps.
Removing the RPS is only 8 screws also helps. It is easy to reinstall.
Remember to insert new marine sealant in the screw holes of the floor. Use Boat Life marine sealant and NOT an adhesive.

Thanks for the tips, especially the sealant.
