Hello!
I've just pulled a 40 gallon aluminum tank out of my 1979 Revenge and it was in bad shape with significant holes (one the size of a quarter). The previous owner let things go and was using 5 gallon jugs on deck as a workaround.

Anyway, it would be ideal to find a plastic/poly tank that would fit in the same cavity as the old tank. Though after a couple hours of research I can't find anything that would be a direct fit... most are either too tall or too wide.

Here are the dimensions of my tank:
1. 82" long
2. Width 22 3/4”
3. 9” tall at the deepest part of the tank (not including fittings)
4. 6" tall and right end
5. 5" tall at left end

There are no off-the-shelf poly tanks for this cavity.

A custom poly tank will run more that $7500.

A custom aluminum tank runs $1000-1500 on the mainland. I recall the price per gallon was $8.00 for comparison sake.

I was in the same boat with my 1988 Revenge 20. I ended up taking the original aluminum tank to a gas tank repair shop that deals with buses and trucks. They cleaned the tank and welded the holed and coated the tank with a polyurethane coating. Its been about five years now and no issues at all. It only cost 600 bucks Canadian

Thanks for the insight! This tank was really bad and had been full of water for who knows how long... just sitting. Doubt it's repairable. I was just hoping someone knew of another easy option.

At this point my thought is to put a 30 gallon tank near the rear and make a box around it so that it can be more of a taller rectangle shape... then build a fish box forward of it... lots more work than a simple replacement tank... but should be more useful for fisherman here in Hawaii. And then when you look at it from the deck it will just look like one big fish box. Wish us luck! ;)
