Need suggestions for mounting Yamaha 90 HP Two-Stroke (20" shaft) on 1978 Montauk. Based on the available holes in transom I have the following options for mounting.

1. Mount using top hole (all the way down) and the "blind hole".

2. Mount using two holes up (third hole from the top) and use the "slot".

#2, no question.

Recommended props for this model and engine include:

13" x 17" Yamaha Painted Stainless Steel
13-1/4" x 16" Yamaha Performance Series Three Blade
13-1/4" x 15" Turbo 1 4.25

Ditto. Mine had the 17" painted and was a very good match.

option 2 unless you want your outboard in the boat with you
