Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: New Prop for Suzuki DT150 on 1988 22' Outrage

I have an 1988 22 Outrage with a 2003 DT150. The motor is strong and still turn 5700 rpms but the prop is worn and been refurbished a few times. I can only read a single # which is 16 on the prop and I'm guessing that is the diameter. Does anyone have any experience with this boat/motor combination that could recommend a replacement Stainless Steel prop?

Thanks, Tom

-- - - - - - - EDIT --- Ignore this post, OP has different model so prop advice is not correct ---- - - -- - - --

What is the model # stamped on the inside of the prop hub.

The current DF 150 has been redesigned so I did a bit of sleuthing on specs for your model.

The 2008 ish Suzuki DF 150 has a gear ratio of 2.50:1 and a WOT range of 5,000-6,000.

I am not 100% certain of the WOT speed given your model has a max hp rating of 240. With a target speed of 38, the prop calculator comes back with 18" of pitch.

Given Suzuki's props come in odd increments I would go with a 15.50x17.

Engine should be mounted at least 2 holes up, top bolt in the 3rd hole down from the top.

Thanks Phil. I'm going to put some cleaner on the numbers and see if I can read them and check the motor mount height. It's turning around 5750 rpms and tops out about 30 but as I said the prop isn't in great shape so I'm guessing I'm losing a few miles per hour but more importantly fuel economy.

You posted a DT150 correct? So a 2 stroke. In that case a 16" pitch would make sense.

Biggie found my mistake. I mis-sread the model so my post is totally inaccurate.

Thanks for the catch Nick!

Yes its a 2 Stroke DT150. The #16 was stamped on the outside of the proper on the front end and wasn't sure if that was the diameter or the pitch.

I'm curious what your thoughts are on a 4 blade 17 pitch 14.3" Solas. How would you expect the motor to respond. As I said it's turning around 5700-5800 rpms with the current 16 pitch.

What is max rpms?

16 would be the pitch. If going to a 4 blade you would need to go down in pitch, not up.

Max RPMs I am getting now is around 5750 but the spec says 5000-6000. So a 15 pitch and 14.5" diameter would be a better option? I'm assuming I would lose some top end but gain low end power right? Any ideas on the performance difference?
