I’m considering purchasing a vented outboard cover for my Yamaha that’s on my Montauk. My question and I’m looking for opinions. Would installing the vented cover cause any long term damage to engine ie , moisture build up - deterioration of the engine emblems ? ECT ECT ECT. Thanks for any advice. Anton

I am confused. What type of vented cover are you purchasing? Is it an OEM Yamaha cover? All covers are vented as internal combustion engines require air to run.

It’s a woven polyester fabric cowling cover that’s vented - you can use while the engine is running - there’s a number of manufactures out there TUFF SKINZ is one that offers these covers. Hope that clears things up. Thanks

to clear things up the vented covers are made from polyester materials and it protects the cowling cover from the elements.

I am not sure you can use these while running the engine, I would'nt. I have engine covers for all of my outboards and they do a great job of keeping them looking new. I personally have never owned the factory looking ones that are a tight fit. Mine are usually sunbrella and have a draw string.
