I have a 1988 Montauk 17 that needs a new cooler. Someone stepped on the lid. I have the wood brackets on the floor which I would like to keep. The problem is that the foot print of the new cooler needs to match the old one to fit securely. If anyone knows where to find a replacement or what the size of the original was, or what the part number is, that would be a great help. I don't want to start cutting the brackets. Help
Thanks

max,
All you need to do is look through the OEM Parts Photo section and you will find the info you seek.

What size is your cooler?
The standard size was 86 qt but some people used the 72 quart...
The replacement for the 86 qt is the 94 qt.... The 94 is slightly different but not much.

I can confirm the new 94 qt Igloo marine works (at least on my '79).

The original cooler in a 1988 Montauk was the Igloo 86 quart Marine cooler which has now become the Igloo 94 quart Marine cooler (the lid is taller now).
The base of the 94 quart will not quite fit the original position of the cooler cleats but will work fine if you move the cleats forward by 1/2".
