I searched and found an old post that recommended a Stiletto or Turbo prop for this same application. I have since found that Stiletto is out of business and the Honda Turbo prop is no longer available in that size. So, I thought I would poll the group for opinions. I am searching for a spare or a better performer and use the existing Turbo prop as a spare.

Currently running the 14.25x19 Honda Turbo prop. P/N 58233-ZY3-A19H.
WOT is 5800 RPM (spec is 5000-6000 RPM max for the BF150)
Max speed is 44.5 MPH per the GPS
Calculated slip is 9% at WOT
The figures above were with a load of about 400 pounds of people and gear and light fuel (~12-14 gallons)
Engine is mounted 2 holes up.

I think the current prop is a pretty good match for the boat, but as stated, I want to buy another prop so that I have a spare. From what I have found, the Turbo prop was more aggressive than most. The current Honda lineup has a 15x19 3 blade. Honda also offers a 4 blade Titan 4 in 14.125x19. I can't seem to find much info that states if the Titan 4 has aggressive or not. If the Turbo was aggressive, then I was thinking the motor could probably turn a 4 blade in a 19" size.

Unfortunately, there is not a prop shop near me that will allow swapping various sizes to determine the best match.

In looking at the member prop recommendation sheet for the Outrage 18 and the Honda BF150, I do see the Turbo prop in the size and pitch you already have as the one to use.

Tom Clark offered the Honda "Turbo" four blade, 14-1/4" x 15" (#58234-YZ3-A15H) if a member was looking for a 4 blade choice instead.

While I show a PowerTech OFS prop, I don't have the size. Maybe Ken at www.Propgods.com, familar with Whalers and props can give you the right size.

I also have a note the engine should be mounted only 1 hole up.

We want to add member results so whatever you test, please post the results (WOT rpm, speed, load etc).

Thank you for the fast response. I will do some searching for a NOS 14-1/4" x 19" Turbo prop as well as reach out to Ken. I will post results if I go with something other than what I already have.

Interesting on mounting 1 hole up. I have found several opinions that state 2, even 3 holes. I would do some additional testing and look at the depth of the cavitation plate when trimmed out. So far, it seems to be running fine. Holeshot is good and it doesn't porpoise when trimmed correctly. I have only run the boat about 10 hours since I purchased it.

Noob question here, is the member prop recommendation sheet something posted on this site? I have looked and haven't found it, but I may be looking in the wrong spot.

Mounting height is a variable, just like prop size. Some engines tolerate a high height (e.g. E-TEC) while some do not, like the Honda for this hull.

The "sheet" is a document I have build over the years since there are so many members who ask the question. It is constantly changing with the new engines and props being introduced.

The Honda BF150 is a very heavy outboard. How does the boat handle the extra weight of that outboard in terms of how sit in the water at the stern and how does it handle coming into plane, does it run now high on plane?

The weight doesn't seem to be a large problem. At the dock, the water line is at the bottom of the 2 thru-hulls in the splash-well. This seems to be consistent with what others have experienced after re-powering. The battery is still in the splash well. I plan on moving it to the console when time permits.

As far as getting on plane goes, I just trim it down and go. It has plenty of acceleration to jump on plane quickly. It doesn't require anywhere near full throttle to get there. I will say that I have not had more than 3 adults on it yet, so I cannot comment how it performs when loaded to capacity.
