looking to hear recommendations for a "kicker" motor for my 17ft montauk. minimum HP to maximum HP recommendations would be very helpful and appreciated.

A Montauk was not made until 1973 so you must have an earlier model 16'.

The lighter the better but hard to beat the weight of a 6hp or 8/9hp for the kicker for the Classic 16/17 hulls.
