I recently purchased a spare Moeller 6g tank for use with my 1978 Evinrude and the female connector doesn't fit my motor. Does anyone have a part number or source for a connector that will fit my older motor?
Thanks

Here's what you need from West Marine... It hasn't changed through the years...

Looks like what came with the tank but it doesn't quite fit. Is there a different part for older motors? Mine is a '78.

I have a 2000 Johnson and I replaced my fuel/engine connectors using two my brother in law had laying on the shelf leftover still in the pack from when he had a 1980 Johnson. So... I am pretty sure nothing's changed. When you say it doesn't quite fit, how so? They can be a little finicky to clip onto the motor. The connection wants to be tight so there's a good air tight seal. So sometimes it will feel like the metal clips not going to engage the groove on the brass inlet. Work and it back and forth a few times to get just right and if it goes on, leave it on.
