Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: What is this chrome piece called?

As part of my restoration project, I want to rechrome or replace the part that covers the helm between the steering wheel and console.

Stupid question: What is this called? A helm cover? Helm cowling?

Also any reputable resources for rechroming would be appreciated.

Part in question

Thanks,
Denny

It's called a Bezel.

I can't find the correct one you are showing in the photo on Teleflex's website.

Here is the Big-T helm and bezel which is can be setup for either 90º or 20º angle.

Thanks Joe,

While it probably not OEM, I'd still like to save and rechrome the bezel as modest jewlery for my 13' sport (will be adding a destroyer steering wheel also). I still have the pulley system in place but would like to upgrade to something like a teleflex system. I have a message into teleflex about the Big T and will let you know what I find out.

Denny,

I think your bezel is original. I just couldn't find it on the Teleflex site.

I only used the Big-T for reference.... I am very familiar with the Big-T helm as it was original to my 1978 Montauk which I owned for 15 years.
