Is there a noticable differance from a right to a left turning prop ? I am lookin at an engine that is from a pair and I wonder if I would notice it .. What can i expect with a left turning prop ?? Anything that I should know ?? Thanks Bob

My 2 cents:

What Kamie said, and also the torque effect from the propeller on the boat will be in the other direction. Some boats have for example the battery on starboard side to balance the propeller torque, but I don’t think that’s an issue on Whalers. Some say the lower unit doesn’t last as long as on “normal” outboards, but my guess is that the difference cannot be that big. If you get it for a good price, go for it!

The one big difference is the propeller torque as Seb mentions which will result in a list to starboard instead of port when running.

Left hand propellers are NOT more expensive, in fact they are often less expensive because they are difficult to sell by themselves.

There are only a handful of propeller models that are not made in left hand counter rotation, and non of them are applicable to Whalers.
