Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: 1980 Outrage 21 Prop Selection

Just getting done restoring my 1980 Outrage. Have put a 2009 Evinrude ETEC 200 HO 20" shaft on for power. The "loaner" prop is a 19 pitch. I am looking for guidance on correctly "propping" out the boat or at least getting close. Right now the motor is running 6000+WOT. Can any one provide insight based on their own experience with an older Outrage and a newer power plant please?

Thank you!

Chris -

Please clarify your model. There was no 1980 Outrage 21.
in 1980 there was an Outrage 18, 20 and 22.

Could it be a 1979 Outrage 21?

If you review the prop advice threads you will see the comment "prop size is not universal"

The loaner prop information is not helpful without the make and model and material.

Various owners with the E-TEC 200 HO G1 motor have used the following with good results. Note all are stainless steel.

Mercury Mirage Plus 17 pitch
Mercury Enertia 19 pitch
Stiletto Advantage 4.75 19 pitch (since discontinued)
Mercury Rebel 17" pitch

The sweet spot for WOT is 55-5700 RPM's.

Remember mounting height is critical. Typically E-TEC's like to be mounted HIGH. 2 or 3 holes up.

Thank you Phil. Yes, it is a 20'-3" or 4" hull. I will double check the manufacturer's information on the current wheel and advise.

Thank you.
