We currently have a Yamaha 150 TXRQ engine on our Whaler. We'd like to add a 9.9HP kicker on it. Ideas regarding best way to do this? It appears that there is very little area to do it.

There a lot of competition when it comes to Outboard Motors. But when it comes to Kickers, there is one that stands above the rest!! Nothing competes with Yamaha's 9.9 High Thrust motor.
You cannot go wrong with that one!

That is good to know. But I should have been more specific in my question— how best to mount it?

The 1991 Outrage 19 is the same hull as the classic 1980's Outrage 18.
Take a look at Royce's personal page to show his mounting.

Do you tiller steer the kicker or do you put it straight ahead and use your main as a rudder?

I have always steered with the main for the most part, however, I'm going to try and link the two next summer. Steering with the main works well in relatively calm conditions, but when it's windy it has it's limitations. Trolling doesn't really require a lot of gross corrections, so the main works fine as a rudder. However, I bought a place in Florida on a canal and it would be nice to drive out on the kicker to avoid hitting anything with the expensive stainless prop on the main.
