Hello all, just purchased my first Boston Whaler a 1987 Revenge 25 WT with WD and twin Yamaha 150 s. I have only had her for a week now and she hasn't left my dock but I have to say I am loving this boat. Even at 30 years old with the usual issues and neglect it is obvious that the quality is there. I live in Grosse ile Mi. a small island at the mouth of lake Erie so my boating season is rapidly coming to a close. It will be a long winter waiting to play with my new toy.
Looking forward to getting to know some of you on the forum and learning about Boston Whalers.

Welcome "aboard" Dennis.
I can't believe you haven't gone out yet. I wouldn't been able to control myself especially not with the great "Indian Summer" weather we have currently in Michigan. You're good for at least another month with the cuddy-cabin and enclosure you have on the Revenge 25.

I feel your pride and pain. My new to me 1999 outrage 17 is still sitting at the boat yard where I bought it last Friday. I cleaned the interior and scraped the bottom but am bringing it to a Merc mechanic to have a review of the motor. The dealer says it needs a fuel rail but the mechanic doesn't think so based on the way it runs in the barrel. 1st Whaler for me but back in the 70s I almost talked my father into buying a 13 that we test drove. He ended up buying a 19 ft ski boat that we had a ball with but always wanted a Whaler. Good luck with yours! I am in southern New England.

As much as I would love to take her out, there are some issues I want to take care of first. Nothing major, things like oil level indicator lights, bilge pumps, running lights, a tach problem and clean up some wiring problems. Not to mention a major cleaning, I guess the last owner gave up after having her for 17 years. The transom storage/bilge area was really bad, I spent two days cleaning that. Looking forward to getting out on the water but I'm really enjoying getting her back into ship shape, she deserves it.

Nearly every problem you just mentioned is with wiring and/or old parts. Do yourself a favor and make refitting the wiring your winter project. Clean the boat in the spring and you should be good to go.
