I have a 1961 Nauset and I just picked up a 2017 Yamaha F70 for cheap (private party). I need to get controls and gauges.

Anybody with this setup have advice on what I should get? I don't really want to go to the Yamaha dealer... they usually charge a lot more than if I buy the parts myself.

I will also need a complete steering setup... Any advice on that would be great.

Get the Yamaha rigging catalogue and then you can sort out what you need and find it online. When I was planning on purchasing my F70 from the dealer I shopped online and searched part numbers from the rigging catalogue to purchase the Binnacle, kill switch, Tach, trim and volt gauges and all the related harnesses. If I had it to do over again, I believe the trim harness came combined with either a oil pressure, or temp harness, (I cant remember), and I could of had that rather than the volt gauge which I would have preferred. I just went for a volt gauge as that is how my old dash was set up from the previous motor. I went with the less expensive analogue gauges but with Yamaha you can go basic or digital and higher tech. Anyhow, I brought this stuff to the dealer when having the new motor rigged and I figured I saved probably $300-$400 from retail.

Be careful and check the part #'s twice. There are several versions of harnesses and gauges that look very similar but are not necessarily compatible.

While nice, the Command Link digital products are wicked expensive.

For steering, I would go hydraulic. It was easy to install and, does not drift like the mechanical steering did while trolling.
