Hi, I'm located in the Seattle area, I'm looking for someone who has done a lot of salmon fishing (and other types of saltwater fishing around the Puget Sound) to help get me started this season. I do a lot of crabbing but I'm not a big fisherman, yet I have 1989 22' Revenge with a 225 Mercury which could easily be set up for fishing. It has a trolling motor, sounder, no downriggers yet but has wired mounts. I have wanted to start using the boat for fishing. Since I'm a novice, I'd need advice about very basic things, such as initial gear needed, where to fish and times, how to rig Iines, storing fish, etc.

It would be an opportunity for someone to get out and do some fishing on a boat for free and teach a bit while doing so. I'd pay for gas, bait, etc. Location is flexible - I live in Shoreline WA but can trailer my boat to other launch areas either south or north. Usually weekends are best but possibly available on Fridays from July - Oct.. Email bsapin1@gmail.com

Get John Martini's book ( John's Sporting Goods in Everett on Broadway) Also available at some other sporting goods stores.

I grew up central / South Sound and he had about 2/3 of my old go to's in his book. It has some of the standard trolling rigs, flasher, leader and lure recommendations and how to rig. Old fashioned plug cut herring still works well.

That will get you started.
