Hallo
Due to new legislation in the area of Amsterdam (The Netherlands) area we're not allowed to use 2 strokes anymore.
Its the environmental lobby that gets stronger and stronger. As of the year 2017 only 4 strokes and E-tecs are allowed.
So out with the old in with the new...
I've seen a great looking Honda 25HP 4 stroke short shaft built in 2000. It has green decals. But already 17 year old!
Here's the thing i can't seem to find any reference in terms of modelranges and technical differences over the last decades.
They all look the same wether that is a model from 2000 or 2017....
I would expect Honda to use fuel injection these days, but according to their website the 25HP and 30Hp still use carbs.
I don't mind really. I'm just curious. Would their be a downfall in buying a 17 year old honda instead of a newer model?
Did Honda change anything on their outboards the last decades?
Best regards
Roderic

Roderic -
The one big difference with older Honda 4 stroke motors used carburetors before all motors moving to fuel injection.
Many would recommend looking for a younger aged used motor. (5-10 yrs old.

My mistake.
It is the larger motors, 40+ hp, that have gone to EFI.

If you have a 13 ft whaler you might want to consider a 40 hp motor, I have a Merc 40 on my 13GLS and I can easily hit 40mph on my GPS

Good one Bilto! If you've even been to Amsterdam you'll notice how cramped the place is. Not much space to hit 40mph...
We use it as a Family boat. I need fuel economy and comfort. Speed is not a goal.
BTW: I managed to hit 33mph with my old motor. Not bad.
