Hey everyone: my buddy Bob, across the street (13 Sport) (year not known to me) reports his water pump on his Yamaha 2-stroke is shot. Usual repair shop not taking any more until after Memorial Day. Do you recommend anybody in the Cleveland through Toledo areas? We're in Bay Village, a western suburb of Cleveland. Any advice welcomed. Thank you!

Shops are overrated. :)
Have him order the parts, buy a 6 pack and work on it together. Lots of self help guides and videos out there:

You only need some basic tools for this job but you will need metric tools. Excellent opportunity to add to the tool chest.
I typically put the engine in forward gear and don't bother taking the prop off if I don't have to. Having it in gear makes it a little easier to get the drive shaft back into place. Just turn the prop slightly if it does not line up.
It won't happen but remove the spark plug wires to remove any chance of the engine starting.
Once done just make sure neutral is neutral, forward is forward and reverse is reverse. To test the gear, put it in forward. When you turn the prop, the flywheel will turn in the same direction. Reverse will be opposite. :)
Crank it on a hose and a pair of muffs just to make sure all is well before you load it up with the family and the dog. The awesome sound of a two stroke out of water will fill your neighbors with appreciation of being able to live next door to someone who can fix his own toys. Or they'll call the cops. :)
Have fun
