I have one of the new 2.1L 90hp engines. and like others, have been impressed with it. One of the things I was particularly happy with was its shop manual. It is much easier to follow than the one for my 2004 model - the instructions are truly step-by-step with very little "skip this if you have a 115 etc". This is particularly helpful for the lower units where there are four separate, complete sections for left and right hand drive with and without Command Thrust. They also make better use of modular disassembly and assembly instructions where you want to replace an entire subsystem without taking it all apart. And use of color for wiring, fuel flow, water flow, oil flow, etc, is very helpful.

Just to help clarify, Jim is referring to the 2.1L Inline 4 cylinder Mercury 90 FourStroke motor on his Montauk 170.
