I have a 2012 Verado 150 on my Montauk 190. I'm trying to remove the rear cover to access the spark plugs for replacement. Seems like it would be easy but not so! Does anyone have or know where to find a video that shows how to get it off? It feels like I'm going to break something from prying too hard.

Are you referring to the lower cover, below the cowl?

Spark plugs have specific torque values so the proper tools are required.
You may want to register at Veradoclub. The Verado's are sophisticated motors and knowledge is a good thing.

It's a plastic cover on the back of the lower cowling.

Just had the plugs changed on my 135 HP Gen 2 Verado. I didn't watch the work but don't believe it was necessary to remove the chaps below the cowling to change the four plugs.
Perhaps you can do it using a U-joint with the plug socket. Have you been able to remove the pencil coils?
I strongly second the suggestion to visit VeradoClub.com which has a ton of free information. It's a great site.

My last Mercury only needed the top cowl removed to access the plugs and pencil coils but on this one, they are below the top cowl behind a plastic cover. There is no access without completely removing the cover. It's not necessary to remove the lower cowling, just the cover. I will go on the Verado site and see if any info there. Thanks for your reply.
