Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: Bad News

Just talked with the guy who gave me a 1979 whaler he said he found the old papers eatten up by mice so now he has no papers for the boat the last time it was registered was 1999 in ny .NY gets rid of all info after four years so no way to get a title or to register it or is there a way to salvage title it I want to restore this boat now looking to bring this boat to florida and register it Help

Check with DMV. In CA you start the paperwork for DMV for no title out of the computer vehicles/vessels. Then to California Highway Patrol to verify vins, plates, etc... Then back to DMV.

There are boat title services - I have never tried them but a quick google search brought this one up.

Here in CA....if the vehicle/vessel is still in the computer you can involve the seller for "signings". I have also sent registered letters to the last known address of the owner and returned them unopened to DMV (their requirement). It is not the end of the world (unless of coarse a stolen boat).
