I just bought a great barn find, 17ft that has not been in the water in over 20+years, never been in salt water either. Sat in a garage in Sacramento Ca all its life. Had over a inch of dust and dirt on it. Had a rats nest in the tunnel under the deck. But after three days of washing and polishing it looks like a brand new boat, not one stress crack anywhere. Teak as new. SS rails are perfect, its like a time warp. I bought it from a donation outfit, older guy just gave it up after years of sitting in his garage. Tires on the trailer were shot from sitting. I ordered a new Yamaha 70hp 4 stroke, called Mills canvas and bought a new sun top they had on a winter clearance. This is my 5th Whaler so far, and its better than a new one. I would like to take it to a boat show, think people would like to see it. Anyway, as you can tell Im pretty excited. Also looking for a bow cushion for it, maybe even a stern seat, white with black piping.

I just got some cushions from Anderson Mfg. They are excellent quality and they can match your color. Mine were an exact match for my existing older PRS cushion. Great folks to deal with also.

That's the same story as the one I bought a couple of years ago, and the only reason I bought it - simply could not pass it up. A 1979 Montauk, original owner, only 250 hours of total use in the first 6 years of it's life, all fresh water - Lake Michigan - only used for trolling, and stored for the last 22 years!
You can see photos in the Personal Website link. I put a new trailer under it, and switched the power from a 1979 Evinrude to a 1979 Merc, and varnished the teak.
You will love your new purchase - sounds like a great, and lucky, find.
