Just purchased a 2015 BW 130 Super Sport. It comes with a 40hp 3 cylinder Merc EFI and
the motor weighs 216lbs.
I was thinking of changing the motor to a 40hp 4 CYLINDER Merc because we
will often be pulling a lot of people in a tube.
However the 4 CYCLINDER Merc weighs 260lbs and BW says the maximum motor weight should be
no more than 235lbs.
What would you recommend?
Thanks
(corrected boat name to 130 Super Sport)

You have a challenge on your hands. The 2015 13' is a heavy hull with a low max hp rating. A larger engine is not financially realistic.
I would change your prop rather than the motor. Staying with the same make/model, I would drop 2" of pitch to help performance
E.g. If you have a 13.25 x 15, I would drop to a 13.25 x 13
You will need to do some trial and error to get the performance dialed in.

Thanks for the good advice.
Now 1 more question.
What discount is usually given when you purchase a boat at a boat show?

Have you already bought this boat or not?
If not, I would have the dealer throw in a smaller sized prop in the deal.

I would also check the warranty on your boat.
In the old days, if you overpowered the boat the 10 year hull warranty was void.
Not sure if you put too much weight on the transom if that would also void the hull warranty.
