Hello Everybody,
im french from FWI
I am spirit to renew Boston and I have a mercury optimax 115 (375 lbs) do you think that this engine could be okay for my Boston?
And for those who have a 15 classic which engine have you on it and what are the performances of your Boston thank you.

I had a Yamaha 4 stroke 50hp on my 15 foot Whaler. It would do in the low 30 mph (54 kph) range (via GPS). It was certainly fast enough for us. A 15 foot Whaler with the maximum rated horsepower of 70 is a real speed demon!!!
115 is way too much power and weight in my estimation.

My 70hp Evinrude (technically a 60hp with 70 carbs) with a jackplate will do GPS 47mph with 1 or 2 people in it. With me alone I have back off a tad after I hit 47 because the chinewalk gets dangerous. I can get it to run 48 mph if I raise the motor another 1/8" to tame the chinewalk but it drives like crap under normal circumstances.
375# is a lot of weight in the back. It will probably take water over the transom if you cut the throttle and it probably would not be the best solution for putting the boat on the mooring. You would be making sacrifices for speed. If I was going to overpower my 15' I would modify the bottom of the hull, by adding a pad and strakes.
