I have lately had difficulty starting a 50 Yamaha owned from new. Replaced fuel with stabil and plugs. Not started in three weeks and time to haul boat here in Michigan. Read lots here and other sites with not much help. Bulb pumped hard, battery very strong and cranking. Just won' t fire. Decided to sleep on it. Woke up thinking about my options. Got to boat , pumped bulb, choked and cranked. Nothing. Cranked again with no choke and BOOB. Took a while to burn out some crud but ran fine. Reason I write is I have never read anywhere anyone saying crank without choke. Perhaps this may help someone

The 2007 50hp 2 stroke Yamaha has an electric primer on one of the carbs. You could have an electical or adjustment problem with it.I have had a similar problem with my Yamaha.

Tigermc: What was the nature of the problem and the fix?

I had a 1981 235hp Evinrude. I pushed in the key for choke. If I kept choking while starting I would flood the motor. Would do nothing for a while and then try with no choke. If I missed starting the first time around always had problems.

What you did the second time round the following day is how I would start. I would have the throttle a little better than 1/2 way up.
