It has a 13-7/8x17p sst but I think the same dia. prop in a 19p would work also. I have to get my tach replaced so I know what rpm's it is turning. Just sounds like it's turning too many rpm's. What size prop are most of you running on the 15ft. sport with a 2000 year model 70hp. Johnson.

We need to know the WOT rpm and speed.

At what height is your engine mounted?

Does the boat have bottom paint?

What is the typical load of gear, fuel and passengers?

Yes, a 17-pitch SST is not enough for the 2nd-generation OMC 70 on a 15. Most people run 19s or even 21s in the SST prop. The SST is not really a modern design, though. When I had that motor on my 15 I ran a Stiletto Advantage 13.25 x 17. It was perfect for the setup - better grip in all conditions, and lets you raise the motor to improve performance.
