I have just refurbished a 1970 16 foot Montauk and are repowering with a 2014 E-Tec 90. Would very much appreciate suggestions for props. I am leaning towards the BRP SSP TBX although pitch and diameter is open to suggestion as are suggestions for other brands or types.

The dealer should mount the motor all the way up.

I don't know much about the prop you mention, but Evinrude's website seems to indicate that it is for 25" shaft V motors and heavier boats, not the in-line version of the 90. I would think the standard SSP in 15" pitch would be the place to look, or something like a Stiletto Advantage, same pitch. But, as someone will point out, each boat is different and you will only know for sure once you try the prop on your setup.

I have a 1970 16-foot custom Whaler powered by a 2006 90 HP Evinrude E-Tec. This spring I mounted the motor at its highest setting and installed a 13-1/4" x 15" Stiletto Advantage I propeller. I am pleased with the performance.

I'll second the recommendation of the 13-1/4" X 15 Stiletto Advantage propeller. I have this propeller on a 1989 Montauk 17 with a 90HP E-Tec. Excellent all around performance.

I have the pre-smirk hull, same as you. It's lighter and possibly faster. I spin the 17" Stiletto Advantage and have hit 45.3 MPH at 5300 rpm mounted all the way up. I believe I would over speed with a 15" Stiletto and you may as well. Are you bottom painted?

Thank you all for the feedback, much appreciated. Chris, my bottom is not painted specifically although I just completed a sanding, repair, re-sanding and painting with Awlgrip of the entire boat (two coats Awlgrip primer and 1 finish coat)
