The previous owner of my 87 Montauk dismantled the captian/helm seat. Besides paying the HUGE $$ direct through BWhaler is there an aftermarket company that makes a comparable seat?

In a one word.... NO
I would look for a replacement on eBay or maybe someone on this forum might have one or know someone who does.
You could also buy the parts needed for an original RPS. Do you have any parts at all?
The "Z" legs, Cushion, 2 Pivot Arms, Teak Backrest?
You could buy a newer style Reversible Pilot Seat (RPS) like the newer whalers but it obviously would not look anything like the original.

Andersons who is an OEM for classic whaler upholstery makes a seat to replace the Montauk RPS. Though it does not look original it could be an option...

i have the Z-legs, 2 pivot arms, and the teak backrest. I don't have the brackets to attach the pivot arms, top harware or plastic cups for the backrest.
