i have a late 80's super sport 13

looking to repower with a new 40 hp or 50 hp

the newer engines are a bit heavier now. what would be too heavy
if im not mistaken the hull is around 320 lbs(with the interior i think)

original motor was an older suzuki 40 that weighed around 175

new options are:
yamaha 40....214 lbs
yamaha 50....249
suzuki 40.......229
suzuki 50.......229
evinrude 40.....240
evinrude 50.....240

What would be too heavy, according to Whaler, all of those. Their advice has always been to keep engine weight as far under 200# as you can. To see how she would float drop a 40# bag of sand in the stern.
