I would love for you to take the leap for the new E-tec if you are not looking for used. I imagine they have quite a plan with warranty for the new design. 175hp. minimum. I could not afford it but would take the leap for my 1979 22ft. Revenge.

Garris

Here is a good reference list to start out with.

Some are happy with a 150 on a 22, so it really depends on what you want to do with the boat. Heavy loads, big water, pulling toys, go bigger. Not in a hurry, mostly light loads, go smaller and lighter.

From the article link that Marko gave you above, these would be my 2 choices and just the 2 choices you were asking about.

E-Tec 200hp @433 pounds
or
Yamaha F200hp In-Line @489 pounds

The eTec 225 HO weighs 511 pounds and would be a good choice if maximum performance is a goal.

Thanks all good info. Anyone have any issues with the E Tec's that would be of concern?
Short summer in New England gets shorter when boat is on the beach.

My E-TEC 90 has hurt my relationships with two good friends. I'm guessing the new technology engines are no different. So, if you don't mind less frequent contact with your mechanic and your gas dock attendant, go with the etec.
