Hi, I have a new to me boston whaler outrage 22" 1981 model. I wonder if anyone have any experience with how big engines you can put on this boat without loosing too much stability?

Today I have a 250hk Evinrude 2004 model, I will not do any changes at the moment but if something happens to the engine and I still have to change it, I will consider two engines instead of one.

am a bit disappointed of the speed to day, it did 40 knts in the start of the season, and now, after two months of growing, its only goes in 38knts.

The max rated for that Outrage 22' is 240 HP.

Many people use a 225 HP on that model.

Here is a list of current single motor choices and their weights.
