Recently, it has come to my attention that members and visitors here are apparently in desperate need of more information than most manufacturers are normally providing to their customers in their Owners Manuals. There are also folks buying used engines and then rigging these engines themselves on their Boston Whalers.

Engines today are not at all like they used to be when our classic Boston Whalers were originally rigged. It is absolutely vital to install and rig these newer motors correctly to avoid big problems down the road, as well as to take advantage of the new and much improved features that are available. I have started locating these rigging and installation guides that are provided by engine manufacturers to their dealers, and I have linked the ones I have found, and used, so far, (the big 3 manufacturers), here below. Mercury has a different rigging guide for for different motor models, and the one I have located and used is the one for the Verado only. I would like to enlist help with this project. There are several other engine manufacturers that certainly need to be included.

If you find a link to another modern engine manufacturers installation or rigging guide, please help everyone out and post it below. Thanks In Advance! And Happy Whalerin'!

Yes VERY useful info for todays engines to get the most out of the engine(s) as you stated. Maybe Joe would put this in a section that is readily handy for us types that DIY. Thanks Silentpardner for compiling this info.

I have Mercury 2-stroke rigging guides for the following Mercs:

1. In-line 6's 1984-1988, which would also be similar for models back as far as 1980.
2. 3 and 4 cylinder engines, 75-125HP, 1994-2010
3. 150-200 V-6's, 1989-1993

I do not intend to put them on line, but if someone (only one person, please) wants copies to do so, let me know.

While searching for a kit to convert my T-9.9 HT Yamaha from tiller to remote control, I came across a 2014 Yamaha Marine Rigging Products catalog that listed exactly what I need. The catalog is nt currently available in PDF format, as near as I can tell, and requires Adobe Reader software to view, but it's current.
