Hello,

I didn't see an introduction forum so I'm posting mine here. I'm a new member from Orange Lake, NY (it's in the Hudson Valley). I just joined the forum this morning because I wanted to be able to find information about restoring my families' 1978 Super Sport 15. My parent's bought this boat since 1982 and it's been well taken care of, they still own it but they've commissioned me to take care of a few touch-ups and repairs. I'll be searching and reading and posting when I can and I hope I can learn a lot from the work of all the others on the forum.

This boat was purchased from Chic's Marina from Lake George, NY in 1982 with an 80 hp Merc and then in 2,000 the motor was replaced with a 75 hp. The new motor is a bit heavy but we manage.

Along side the Whaler is my 1999 Master Craft 210VRS and my 2004 Honda Aquatrax R12.

Alfie

Hello Alfie and welcome aboard WhalerCentral.

The 15' Super Sport was not made until 1984

So, you must have a 15' Sport model instead.

Or, maybe some other model?
See the models here and let us know what you have for sure.

Ok, well now I have my first challenge. I'll find out what it is with your help I'm sure.

I don't have a picture handy but I can explain. It doesn't have a bow rail, does have a seat back on the rear seat along with a wrap around stainless bar, but it doesn't have the storage behind the rear seat. Is it possible the sport was made with the seat back?

Yes. There was an optional Wrap-Around Rail with back rest and also an optional backrest cushion.

Still a Sport 15' with the optional rail and mahogany back rest.

Good to know. I'll do more research and get the HIN as well.

Thanks again.

Help me out. What's the stencil number?

Should I post it to this thread or some where else?
