Hey, I believe the minimum HP per BW from the past for this hull was a 30HP,
Im not looking to plane with this 25 HP motor,
i hcan afford a brand new 25 hp for around 3500 bucks.
that is tiller,
i fish about 3 miles from my house in the st marys river.
can this motor get this boat to 10mph? roughly 400 RPM?
it would be a 20 inch shaft of course.
or since i probably woudlnt be doing any planing, would it make more sense or just get 15 hp an save money?
i have nothing in it, i will be sitting on a padded cooler seat that weighs ~ 20lbs with ice. 3 fishing rods.
no other equipment. no bimini top, not even rold hjolders, its stripped out completly, bare hull.
thanks.
i know i can get a used 40 hp for price of the new 25 hp, but they r remote steering, requiring a new steering system, and probably still just get on plane, an then also taking up the extra space in the boat from the center console, an added maintenance of sterring, and controls, an extra things to break.
as things have brpken on me, i have become a minimalist.
that being said if i came across a good deal on a 40/50 HP good condition id get it, but, still id love to get away with a 25 hP, if i could get to 10MPH, that plenty speed to get to my fishing spots.

I recently purchased a 40 HP two stroke and converted it to tiller steer. The conversion parts were about $600 new from mercury and included the trim switch and ignition switch. The conversion took about 2 hours of my time as it was pretty much plug and play.
a conversion kit might be a good option for you if you find a good used engine.

Thanks for the info.
I see those 8s still around in your photos, was it tough to tiller 2 motors? Or did u make them remote?
My friend has a 1993 johnson 15 hp, maybe i can throw that on the back see how she goes.
Would i need to drill holes to install a 25 hp? I have blind holes.
The question should be can i moumt the motor woth just the top two holes?
I planned on securing it with just the tiller clamps, so i can put the motor in my garage, harder to steal my motor when i jesr the garage door open an theres a ruger pointed at you.
