Thread subject: Whaler Central - Boston Whaler Boat Information and Photos :: 13 foot steering arm

i am rigging my 1970 13 foot with a 1978 35 johnson and a push pull steering and the steering arm linkage hits the transon beacuse of the curve of the transom when turning starboard the motor can just get past straight, any sugestions ? thanks

Any pictures of the set up? Hard to figure linkage issues without seeing.

You need what is typically called a teleflex standoff bracket.
AKA Clamp Block Outboard, or part D

Your other option is to fashion a tilt tube that sits forward of the existing tilt tube so the steering clears the curve of the tansom

I installed the Teleflex stainless steel standoff it is solid as a rock and works great. They also make a cheaper painted version but I recommend the stainless steel.

kamie that fashion a tilt tube is pretty slick. that is my problem.
