I have a 1971 16 ft "red dot" bare hull. That has a 1985 50hp mercury with side mounted quicksilver controls. That were mounted on a "bracket" to a plywood console that I have removed. I would like recommendations on "binnacle" controls as I am going to ether build or buy a new console for this hull. I am looking not looking to turn this into a historic model, but rather a fishing machine. the quicksilver control cables I have are in good shape.

This guy runs a Marine Salvage on ebayclassifieds; I've bought some items and he came through OK.

Do you need tilt/trim on the control arm?

A classic non-OEM brand that is worth considering is a Teleflex Morse MT-3. They can be adapted for all the major brands of shift/throttle cables.

I do not need tilt/trim. Just a simple throttle/ shift and I can relocate the push to choke ignition to the console.
