- 1985 15' Whaler
- 2005 Yamaha 60 HP 2-stroke
Currently has a Solas 13.25 x 17 aluminum prop and it's nicked up pretty good.
Primarily used for pulling kids on the tubes and general running around...
Should I stick with this size and/or go stainless?
Any advice is appreciated...
Thanks!

I don't recommend an aluminum prop at all and I don't like Solas props too much, at least not for this application.
Your motor has a 5500 RPM redline and a 2:1 gear ratio.
Ideally, you'd use a Yamaha Performance Series 3-Blade in the 13-1/4" x 14" size.
The Stiletto Advantage and Turbo 1 are the same propeller but only offered in odd numbered pitches and I'm not convinced you could turn a 15" as high as it should go, but you could try it.
Be sure your motor is not mounted all the way down on the transom.

From his personal page, it looks as though the motor is mounted all the way down.

Then it should be raised up two or three holes.

Thanks Tom and Joe...yes, one weekend very soon (when I can get a helper) i'm gonna raise the motor 2-3 holes...
Is it best to start out moving it up just 2 holes?

It is best to move it up three holes. If that works, you are done. If it doesn't, then you lower it one hole.
If, on the other hand, you raise it two holes, you'll never know if three is better unless you move it there, and then you've moved it twice and *then* it that is too high, you have to move it back, a third move.
Why not just cut to the chase?

It also appears that your motor is mounted using the blind holes which you will have to fill.
Then you will need to drill the "Green" holes in this diagram.

CORRECTION: The 2005 Yamaha 60 two-stroke has a 2.33:1 gear ratio, not 2:1
That means 13-1/4 x 16 Performance Series 3-Blade would be ideal, maybe 13-1/4" x 17" Advantage would work too

I have a Stiletto Advantage 13.25 x 17 prop that I only used for 4 months it's like brand new. No nicks it's in perfect condition. Reason for selling is I got a new motor. $175 to your door shipping is on me.
